Here are six important things to know about having a friendship with Jesus. When you are a friend of Jesus, you decide to be loyal to Him and do the things He teaches in the Bible

Read the Bible verses and messages that tell about being a friend of Jesus.

1. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Every person has broken their relationship with God. None of us, by ourselves can restore that friendship.
2. Roman 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". We should receive death for our sins and be separated from God in Hell for eternity, but God sets us free from sin. We can gain a restored and complete friendship with God and eternal life as well.
3. Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". Jesus Christ was born of a virgin birth, ministered on earth, and died a painful death on the cross in order that we can restore our frienship with God.
4. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". God loves you so much and wants you to love Him. He sent Jesus, His Son, to restore that friendship.
5. Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved". If you call out to God for help, believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and God's Son, and believe and trust God with all your heart, you will be saved.
6. Acts 2:38 "Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit". We must tell God we are sorry for our sins. God gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit as a counselor and teacher.

A relationship with God is a gift. You can't buy it and you can't earn it. But you can accept and receive the gift. You can say "Yes" to a relationship with God through Jesus.

It is a big step but it is easy to receive the gift of relationship with God through Jesus and the gift of eternal life. You just have to talk to God and say something like the following. The exact words are not important but you must completely believe the words in your heart as you are talking with God.

Heavenly Father,

I've come home. Please make me your child. I turn from my sins. I accept your forgiveness made possible through Jesus Christ by his death and resurrection. I place my faith and trust in Jesus alone. I recieve him as my Savior and Lord. I want to follow and serve you. Let today be the beginning of my new journey as your child and a member of your family.
